Weekly Letter

February 19, 2010
Dear Parents,

We have done so many exciting things this week and I will explain a couple of them to you. First we have been working on our ancestor papers. We have taken notes about the country they came from and now we are starting to write a paragraph describing the old country. On the computer each of us is making a publisher flyer that tells information about our ancestors. Next each of us has made a mission statement. A mission statement talks about what we are trying to become. We created the mission statement typed it and put it on the wall. Each day we are going to read the statement to ourselves and think about it. Each of us have the mission statement in our binder so you should look at it. In conclusion we have had a long and tiring week but it was very fun!

Sincerely,

Your Third Grader

PS
Please continue to study facts with your student. We have noticed a drop in our subtraction scores.

Sassy

Sassy the medium size wild dog is so cute for four reasons. First my dog plays a lot of games. One game she plays is tag. When she tags you she digs here claws into your skin, it hurts. She also plays catch. When she gives the tennis ball back it is covered in slobber all over it. Another thing Sassy does is dig holes. Sassy will try to dig up anything she can get to. One time she was digging up my grandma and grandpa’s back yard but she gets in really big trouble. One time she was digging in my grandma’s back yard and she was trying to get to the front yard. As you can see Sassy does a lot of stuff.

Lego;s

If there is one thing I know about its Lego’s. Most logo sets come with four to five awesome people. My favorite guy looks dark blue. His head, legs, and feet are all blue except for three specs. He also looks like an odd blue man because. Next Lego city has lots of cool cop cars. One time me and my friend Sky made a Lego city of our own. Our city had a hospital and a police station we also had a awesome airport for our amazing stealth bomber. Now you know about Lego’s. Sincerely yore pall TJ . P.S. look for logo’s in stores.

Itsy Bitsy

If you would like to learn about my grandma’s cat Icy Bitsy read on. First I will talk to you about what Itsy Bitsy does around the house. She leaps all over the big house with here small little body. She runs like a tiny crazy cougar. Sometimes around the house you could never find her because she goes deep underneath my grandma’s couch. Also Itsy Bitsy is a crazy, jumpy, lumpy, cat. Itsy Bitsy is a crazy because she bounces off the wall like crazy. One time she was going so fast she could not stop and ran into another wall. What a funny cat. As you can see Itsy Bitsy is a funny cat.

Muffin, buttons

Muffin, Buttons

My furry, annoying, cute, little kittens Muffin , Buttons. First on Christmas we put a hat on them. When we put a hat on them they claw you. One more thing my cats do to us is hiss at use. Another thing we do with them is we play with them. When we play with them they claw you on the head. Something I do to get them back with my remote control. In conclusion now you
know a lot about my kittens.

Reading

Do you want to learn about reading? If you do read on. First, we are doing main idea in reading. Did you know that you should always do questions, predictions and connections before you read a story? For example, you look at the title Lady Bugs Lost and say," What is it about?" and make questions, predictions and connections. These are the questions I asked. Is it about lady bugs? Are they endanger? And here are some predictions. I think the story is about lady bugs and the Lady bugs are lost. I think the lady bugs will disappear. As you can see we are learning to be great readers.

Bear

Bear

I am going to tell you about wet, loving Bear. He is a crazy dog for several reasons. First, Bear loves to eat wet slobbering dog food. Bear eats very, very crazy. One time Bear was at my grandma’s house. Bear ran to his bowl and started hogging down the wet, crunchy, nuggets. Next, Bear loves to jump off wood docks. Bear jumps like a manic. One time I was heeded to the dock with Bear. When we got there he polled on his leash. I took it off. Then he started running and jumped off the dock and was running in the air. It was hilarious. Now you know why Bear is a crazy dog.

Meeting Our Goals

The goal celebration was fun for several reasons. First, the scavenger hunt was awesome. My team had Nick and Salvia. We had a hard time in the fourth grade room, but eventually we found the book, one about glaciers. Next, the commons was cool too because of the games. I played fosball with Aylssa, Lexie and Alexis. The catapult contest was exciting. Kids in any grade could make a catapult. Alexis needed my help to put in the mashmello, but when she let go, it broke. So I went back with her to fix it. Finally, she tried it, and it worked! Jocelyn won the contest, and Lexi finished second. Smores and pizza for lunch made the day spectacular! As you can see the goal celebration was a blast.

Parent Letter

Dear Parents,

One of the standards I am suppose to teach during the third grade pertains to what cultures influence the make up of our great nation, the USA. I want students to do a study on their family background and discover who in their family first entered the USA, when citizenship occurred, and where they came from. If you could help your student fill out the questionnaire below it will be a great help as we incorporate our studies into writing, reading, and technology. If you have a picture that could be used in your child’s report please email it to me. jgrillo@waterville.wednet.edu

Thank you

Justin Grillo

Fifty nifty United States from thirteen original colonies,
Fifty nifty stars in the flag that billows so beautifully in the breeze.
Each individual state contributes a quality that is great.
Each individual state deserves a bow; Let's salute them now!

Shout'em, scout'em, Tell all about'em
