Reading
Students have been learning how to place a story in the correct sequence. They have done this by deciding what words show sequence in a story and writing the events in the correct order.

Parent Letter
September 11, 2009
Dear Parents,
Please make sure you read this letter. We have many important pieces of information to share with you. To begin with we started to learn our basic math facts. The types of math facts we are learning are doubles, plus one, and plus zero. We think these facts are easy because we learned them in second grade. This is a review. It is important we study the facts so we can pass our test in a few days. Also we have been learning how to write complete sentences. A complete sentence has a subject noun, verb, period, and capital at the beginning of the sentence. We are going to learn how to add more detail to our sentences later on. Finally we have been learning about lifecycles. The lifecycle our class has been studying is the amazing salmon. Did you know they have a yolk sac when they hatch? As you can see we have had a busy week learning about math facts, sentences, and the lifecycle of a salmon.
Sincerely,
Your Third Grader
PS The Salmon Fest is next Friday.

Parent Weekly Letter
September 4, 2009
Dear Parents,
This week was a great start of the school year for several reasons. First our class was being kind to one another. We are working in groups this year so it will be important to be respectful to each other. Another reason school has been great so far is we have had different enrichments. One of the enrichment times was PE. In PE we played capture the flag with Mr. Brown. Finally the school year has been really fun because we have been learning how to act like third graders. We learned all kinds of procedures like what to do during a fire drill. As you can see we had a great start of the school year.
Sincerely,
Your Brand New Third Grader
