Colonial Virginia

Colony people had many types of food I will share them with you. First they farmed many kinds of plants. The colonist used corn for most of their food. Corn was roasted and sometimes made into corn porridge. The people in Virginia ate squash and pumpkin .Next they ate animals from the woods and seas. One thing they ate was bear and fish. Some times the colonist ate clams, crabs and lobsters. As you can see we ate many types of food.
Besides food Virginias had to make a living. One way they made a living is women had jobs. What the women did is spinning, weaving and knitting. They also had to weed huge gardens. Next I will tell you about men’s jobs. They had to make furniture for the house. Men made tables, bowls and chairs. Besides making tables, bowls and chairs men made beds, brooms and spoons. Now you know about Virginia’s colony making a living.
Now I will tell you about clothing. Firstly I will tell you about women’s clothing. Women had to make clothing for girls and boys. Girls wore dresses. They also raised sheep to make clothes. Sheep’s wool was made into yarn and wore into clothes. Next I will tell you about mans clothing. Boys sometimes would weave clothes. Boys would take sheep to fields to cut off the wool. Now you know about clothing in Virginia.
Last I will tell you about children in Virginia. The children had many rules for table manners. Children could not sit they had to stand. Also when supper was bad children could not say no. Kids also had to wait on their parents. Next, I will tell you about children’s school. The first school boy’s and girls went to was Dame School they had a special kind of book called a Horn Book. At school kids did not drink water they drank beer. Now you know about Virginia’s cool kids.
Now you’ve learned about some food they ate, making a living, clothing. And children now you know that Virginia was hard d workers.
