Massachusetts

Colonial’s people had many types of food. I will teach you some of them. One way the Colonial people got their food was they hunted a lot. Some of the animals they hunted were deer, quail and partridge. They usually hunted in the forests. The colonist had farms for food and crops. They raised cows and pigs to eat. The cows and pigs were made into salted hams and jerky that kept without being refrigerated. Sometimes they picked goose berries, strawberries, plumes, walnuts, chestnut, and hickory nuts. As you can see the colonies had lots of food.

The colonist had lots of clothing. I will teach you about them. Men in the colonists had interesting clothing. At first the men bought clothing from England. The boys had 4 common colors they are blue, green, and red. Now I will tell you about the women’s clothing. The women made the clothing and while spinning fiber into yarn a woman reads a book. The woman wore dresses and bonnets. As you can see the colonist had lots of clothing.

The colonist had lots of children. I will tell you about them. First they had schools. Way back then they got to pick if they wanted to go to school or not. The teachers had to teach the kids writing and reading. Now I will teach you about the girls and boys lives. The boys worked in the fields or workshops the girls had housework. The girls and boys did not have a lot of time to play or read at home. As you can see the colonists had lots of kids who did many activities.
