Rhode Island

If you want to learn about Rhode Island children read on. First the children in the
colonies had many jobs to do. If you were a girl you would learn how to sew,cook,clean and spin thread. This was so when the girls grew up they could take care of the household. Boys had different jobs to do. These jobs are fishing, working at a shops, and working in fields. Next I will teach you about what children did for fun. They went sledding and skating. Children went to school, learned about spelling and sang songs. As you can see Rhode Island colonies had great children.

If you like Rhode island food read on. First I will talk to you about seafood Rhode Island people ate. They ate lobsters, fish, clams, and oysters. These animals were cooked in a pan or a fire. Next I will talk to you about vegetables Rhode Island people ate. Rhode Island people ate beans, corn, turnips, herring, pumpkins, and carrots. The women would take the veggies and make stew out of them. As you can see Rhode Island had interesting food.

If you want to about Rhode Island clothing read on. First there were many materials to make clothes out of. . Clothing was made from sheep. They used the hair from the sheep. It is called wool. Next I am going to talk about women’s clothing. Dresses made of silk lace boys wore coats shits and pants to keep warms. As you can see Rhode Island clothing kept people warm.



Children of colony times helped in the family. First boys worked away from home. Boys went to sea to fish in the water. Boys worked at shops. Unlike boys, girls worked at home. They would sew and spin thread. The girls did house keeping and cooked. As you can see children worked.


Colonial people had many kinds of food. I will teach you about them. First they farmed. Corn was grown to make porridge and bread. They grew squash and pumpkin. Next they killed animals for food. They hunted bear. Men fished and caught crabs, clams and lobsters. As you can there were many types of food
